I have early and broken versions of this track dating all the way back to spring of 2014. It was the first track I started playing around with after I ended my formal classical piano lessons. It’s mostly in 5/8, with some variation at the end in which I just mixed in a measure or two of 4/4. The song was written about Route 9J, which is a real route that branches out from Rensselaer and heads south along the Hudson river towards the town of Stuyvesant. I used to see a wonderful girl who lived down there. I don’t know what shes up to now. We don’t talk anymore. The route is very windy and narrow, but still somehow a 55mph zone. It’s an exciting stretch to drive along. Keep driving until you hit an intersection with two yellow flashing traffic lights. Take a right and you’ll cross some train tracks and suddenly be at Riverside Park. Look for my ghost there.
One of the most focused, exciting, enveloping and hopeful albums I’ve ever heard.
These guys are just amazing. And like I said in my thoughts about ‘Spring Island’, I am going tell my children’s children’s children about Delta Sleep. RidgeRacer4
