about

This, as you can infer, refers directly to the character in Nabakov’s “Lolita”. There’s a lot of strong opinions about that book. That’s a good thing. My take: it’s not a romance novel. The long and somewhat awkward pauses during the song are loosely related to the long and very awkward periods of time Dolores went through. The mid-section was inspired by some Miyazaki actually. The song gets strange at the end, as the book does. But ultimately it ends alright. Everything always ends alright. Don’t let the subject matter get in the way of reading the book; it’s a wonderful piece.
