I lived with someone for a while, a different girl, not the 9J one. We accrued some stuffed animals over time and kept them around the house, referred to them as “the family”. The song is a reference to them, watching us live. Beginning part is alternating measures of 7/8 and 5/8 and the chorus is straight 7/8. The outro is the fun part: it’s a measure of 5/8, then 4/8, then 6/8, then back to 5/8 a few times, and then the sequence repeats. We just kinda jam on that a bit. Notice how Mike plays it with a different feel every time the sequence repeats.

One of the most focused, exciting, enveloping and hopeful albums I’ve ever heard.
These guys are just amazing. And like I said in my thoughts about ‘Spring Island’, I am going tell my children’s children’s children about Delta Sleep. RidgeRacer4
